(Insurance) Claims Investigation Officer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Claims Handler with the ability to assess and manage insurance claims dealing with a variety of claims covering the wide range of services offered by a London Local Authority; such as property damage, personal injury, employers liability and leaseholder insurance. 

We operate a self-insurance fund and reporting to the Insurance & Risk Manager your role will involve the end to end management of a portfolio of claims ensuring you determine liability, advising claimants and their legal representatives of your decision, developing and implementing creative solutions including conducting site visits and interviewing claimants, following legislation and local authority policy and establishing and maintaining relationships with a broad range of stakeholders. 
We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of insurance and risk management within a Local Authority environment.

The Insurance and Risk team deliver all insurance functions, claims handling in its entirety, and corporate and operational risk management services to the council and its wholly owned companies.
Reporting to the Risk and Insurance Manager daily activities include being the council’s expert advisor on all matters relating to risk management. To lead on the identification and prioritisation of internal and external risk factors that may impact on the delivery of the Council Plan, Core Priorities and delivery of services and effectively communicate these to senior managers, Directors and Leadership Team.
