Welcome to ALARM
Wales.
We currently have over 100 members, who receive
a wide range of services;
· Regional seminars
covering topic suggested by members. We aim to present a wide
variety of speakers, in order to provide as wide a perspective as
possible.
· An annual member
survey is undertaken to find out what our members want and how it
should be delivered. The survey allows every member to
provide the committee with their views, whether or not they are
able to attend regional meetings.
· ALARMing
News, the region’s newsletter, is produced periodically.
(The title was decided via a prize competition in 2006, which
attracted 25 imaginative entries).
· Various themed
events are organised, such as mock trials for over 150 highways
staff, (October 2006) and a free IOSH Managing Safely
course, (March and April 2007).
· Networking is
encouraged, with members either contacting each other or routeing
enquiries via the Secretary. This is an opportunity for
members who may not otherwise be able to attend meetings to take an
active part in the region’s activities.
· The committee is
exploring the potential to hold a number of joint events with other
regional groups, (e.g. IRM, IIA, CIPFA, etc.), to provide
cross-fertilisation of ideas and enhance networking
opportunities.
· Additionally, all
our events are open to guests and members are encouraged to bring
along a colleague or two who might benefit from taking part.
We see this as helping members to demonstrate the value of risk
management to others within their organisations as well as
generating specialist input to the topics in question.
ALARM Wales continues to develop services for
its members. We recognise that not everyone will be able, or
even want, to attend regional meetings, (not least because of the
time needed to travel in Wales), but believe it is important that
every member has full access to all that is available and is able
to participate in the way that suits them best, as and when they
want to.
