ALARM South East Conference
2008
ALARM South East is running its 10th regional conference at the
popular Latimer Conference Centre on 5th and 6th November 2008.
The conference will include a variety of interesting topics in
plenary and workshop formats as well as providing opportunities to
network with colleagues from other public sector
organisations. In addition, some representatives from
commercial partners who service the public sector will be on
hand.

ALARM South East Conference
2007.
ALARM South East region held
its 8th annual conference at the regular venue of
Latimer Conference Centre, 6th and 7th
November 2007. The theme for 2007 was “Earth Wind and
Fire”.
The title was designed as a timely reminder
that there are risks in the world we live in, both natural and man
made. However, the closer we get to understand them, the closer we
are to being able to deal with them.
The Conference was, in keeping with previous
years, split between plenary sessions and workshops over the two
days. The Organising Committee strives to maintain a balance
between “special interest” subjects and risk and is conscious that
many members retain insurance responsibilities. This area will
continue to be represented at forthcoming events.
The firework display at the end of Day 1 made
a popular return and, as usual, the friendly and informal
atmosphere at Latimer allowed delegates to relax over the evening
meal and 70’s themed quiz before repairing to the bar area.
All feedback is examined to see what was good
and what could be improved or provided for future regional
activity. Thanks to everyone who provided a response.
The majority of delegates commented favourably
on the deliberate increase in networking time although it has been
noted that the general feeling was aspect this could have been
reduced on Day 2 to facilitate a slightly earlier conclusion. The
organising committee will take this into account when organising
the 2008 Regional Conference, which will take place at the same
venue on 5th and 6th November 2008.
