Conference 2008

"Strictly Risk Management?"

Alarm South East region held its annual conference at the regular venue of Latimer Conference Centre, 5th and 6th November 2008. The conference was the tenth such event that the South East region have run since a One Day Conference took place at the offices of LB Newham in 1999.

The theme for2008 was "Strictly Risk Management".

"Strictly Risk Management" was one of the largest regional Alarm events that took place in the UK during 2008. The Committee worked extremely hard to bring together a varied and stimulating programme and I would like to thank all our speakers and sponsors for their help and support.

The Conference was, in keeping with previous years, split between plenary sessions and workshops over the two days. The programme involved sessions on working well with your partners, raising delegate's professional profile and managing the risk of uncertainty so the title was most appropriate.

The firework display at the end of Day 1 was as popular as ever and, as usual, the friendly and informal atmosphere at Latimer allowed delegates to relax over the evening meal and themed quiz before repairing to the bar area. The majority of delegates commented favourably on the slightly earlier closure and this was reflected in the numbers remaining to the very end of the event. The Committee is investigating dates and possible alternative venues for the 2009 Conference and more details will follow on the result of that deliberation in the new year.

All feedback is examined to see what was good and what could be improved or provided for future regional activity. Thanks to everyone who provided a response.
