Alarm South East Conference
2009
'From Drab to Fab'
Alarm South East region held its annual
conference at the customary venue of Latimer Conference Centre,
10th and 11th November 2009.
The theme for 2009 was "From Drab to
Fab"an unusual title but one that we think is very
relevant to our members.
There is sometimes a perception that
Risk Management is a rather dry subject; however much of Risk
Management is actually quite cosmopolitan and fascinating because
it provides an (a) overview both of the risk exposure of the
organisation as a whole and (b) how the different parts of the
organisation influence each other with regard to risk.
So is it possible to spruce up risk
management? The aim of our Conference was to provide delegates with
the tools and confidence to try new things in their discipline,
where the approach to risk management may need refreshing,
reinvigorating or realigning to the personalities involved.
The Conference was, in keeping with
previous years, split between plenary sessions and workshops over
the two days. The programme involved very well received
presentations on the Elected Member’s Perspective on Risk
Management, Professional Presence (including some delegate
participation) and Making an Impact.
As customary the friendly and
informal atmosphere at Latimer allowed delegates to relax over the
evening meal and themed quiz before retiring to the bar area. The
complete set of answers to the quiz can be downloaded here.
The Committee members once again worked
extremely hard to arrange a varied programme about the theme. I
would also like to thank on behalf of Alarm South East, all our
speakers and sponsors for their support in making this event
possible.
All feedback is examined to see what was good and what could be
improved or provided for future regional activity. Thanks to
everyone who provided a response.
