Anglia Winter Seminar 9th
December 2009 - Transport Risks
Despite the disappointing
attendance numbers the December Alarm Anglia Seminar was a
great success; providing some lively debates as ever, concentrating
around the central theme of Transport Risks. There were
excellent presentations on Grey Fleet Risks, Seasonal Road Risk
Management, Driver Behaviour and Eco-Driving. Thanks to Bill
Sulman, Steve Merrett, Mitch Elliot and Sally Plail for these.
The presentations were followed by lunch onboard the Nene
Valley Steam railway, with an onboard quiz to test everyone's road
safety knowledge! Congratulations to Sally Plail of Norfolk County
Council for winning the quiz, and thanks to Alarm
sponsors Zurich for kindly donating her prize.
Alarm Anglia 1st October
Seminar ' Community Risks - Working With Partners'
The Alarm Anglia October Seminar was held at
the King's Lynn Professional Development Centre and was focused
around the issue of the Community Risk Register.
The morning presentation entitled 'Civil
Contingencies Act 2004: Risk Assessment and Community Risk
Registers' was given by Robert Schiel of Cambridgeshire County
Council. This was followed by a presentation from Craig Campbell of
Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service on 'Community Risk Management in
Action'.
Delegates also participated in a lively debate
around the merits of the Community Risk Register, raising some
interesting ideas around the topic. The annual Alarm AGM was also
held at the end of the sessions.
