Alarm South West AGM and Meeting - Bookings Now Open!
Alarm South West AGM and meeting will be held at Taunton
Deane Borough Council Offices on Friday 27th January 2012 10.30
till 14.30.
The AGM will be followed by a business
meeting. David Forster from Zurich Municipal will provide a
presentation on "Understanding Risk Appetite” with reference to the
publication form ZM due out in the New Year.
Would you please assist the Secretary in providing an ecopy of
your notes concerning activity in your organisation or at least let
her have a copy at the meeting.

Alarm South West Workshop -
'Jeremy the Crocodile' - Bookings Now Open!
Alarm South West Workshop will be held at Taunton Rugby
Football Club, Hyde Park, Hyde Lane, Bathpool, Taunton, Somerset,
TA2 8BU on Friday 30th September 2011,10:00 till 16.00
'Jeremy the Crocodile'
Disaster can strike at any time and prudent organisations have a
disaster management plan in place. “Jeremy the Crocodile” is an
interactive scenario based on the death of a pupil on a school
visit to the zoo. The events following the incident will unfold
during the day including taking of evidence, press reaction and the
coroner’s court.
Sadly recent events have made this scenario very topical, but
the learning points will be relevant to every public organisation.
Whether you suffer a large scale accident, or even a Baby P
scenario, the fundamentals of disaster management remain the same.
Accordingly the workshop has universal application for every member
in the region and is recommended for risk managers, insurance
officers, chief executives and health and safety professionals.

Governance and Information Security Risks” by Gary Shipsey,
who is the Information Governance and Compliance Manager at North
Somerset Council. He will provide an insight into the risks
and control measures that could be put in place.

The Alarm South West is proud

We then have a presentation from Zurich
Municipal on “Tough Choices”
In late 2010 Zurich Municipal conducted research with Ipsos
MORI looking at different perspectives on the long-term risks
facing the public sector and wider civil society. This identified
six key themes and our speaker from ZM will expend on the report
and hopefully draw discussion and debate from their
meeting.

"Excellent content - very informative and
thought provoking" was just
one of the comments about Alarm South West’s one day
seminar which was held on 10th September
2010.
The focus of the day was around Business Continuity and the
devastating fire at Melton Borough Council offices. Presentations
included “Business Continuity – What’s it all about?”, “Case Study
– Melton Borough Council” and “What do you need to do – your action
plan”.
