Chief Executive Officer

 

Dr Lynn Drennan  PhD (Glas.), BA (Strath.), FCII, FIRM, Dip.IoD

 

Dr Lynn Drennan joined Alarm as Chief Executive in August 2006. She started her career in insurance, with the Eagle Star Group, and then spent 19 years at Glasgow Caledonian University, where she was Head of the Division of Risk in the Business School and Executive Director of the Cullen Centre for Risk and Governance. During this time, Lynn led both the undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in risk management; programmes that are held in high regard around the world.

 

Lynn has published widely in risk management journals and co-authored two books – 'Reputational Risk – a question of trust' and 'Risk and Crisis Management in the Public Sector'.

Prior to taking up the post of Alarm Chief Executive, she served as a co-opted member of the Alarm Council from 1999-2002 and has acted as a judge on the Annual Awards scheme since 2000. 

 

Lynn has, for many years, been a member of the judging panel for the StrategicRisk European Risk Management Awards. A keynote speaker at national and international risk management conferences, in Europe, Asia, Australia and South Africa, she has also acted as an expert adviser to the OECD and been a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute's Professional Standards Board.

 

During the past two years, Lynn has undertaken further professional development to support her role as Alarm CEO, passing the Institute of Director's Certificate in Company Direction in November 2009 and the Diploma in June 2010, with a view to achieving Chartered Director status.
