Chief Executive, ALARM

 

 

Dr Lynn Drennan joined ALARM as Chief Executive in August 2006, after nineteen years at Glasgow Caledonian University, where she was latterly Head of the Division of Risk and Executive Director of the Cullen Centre for Risk and Governance.  Lynn started her career in 1975, as a graduate trainee with the Eagle Star Group in their regional headquarters in Glasgow, and went on to achieve the Associateship and Fellowship qualifications of the Chartered Insurance Institute.  In 1987, she joined the staff at what was then Glasgow Caledonian University (now GCU) and led both the undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in risk management, before being appointed Head of Division in 1998.  She has published widely in risk management journals and co-authored books on reputation risk – Reputational Risk: a question of trust by Atkins, Bates and Drennan, 2006 – and Risk and Crisis Management in the Public Sector with Allan McConnell, due to be published in February 2007.

 

Prior to taking up her post as Chief Executive, Lynn was a member of ALARM Council from 1999 – 2002 and a judge on the Annual Awards Scheme for many years.  She has also served on the CII’s Professional Standards Board, acted as Chief External Examiner for the Institute of Risk Management, and judged the Strategic Risk European Risk Management Awards.  She is a frequent presenter at national and international conferences held by ARIMA (Australia), IFRIMA (Phillipines and South Africa), PRIMO (Denmark and Malta) and the Zurich Group (Netherlands and Switzerland) and acted as an expert adviser to the OECD.
